AENEAS
*Roman
Aeneas, the son of Anchises and the goddess Venus, was a prince of Troy.
When the Greek army captured the city of Troy at the end of the long
Trojan War, they allowed Aeneas to take with him whatever he valued
most: he chose his aged father, Anchises. After a long voyage, during
during which Aeneas fell in love with, then abandoned, Dido, Queen of
Carthage, Aeneas landed in Italy; the Roman emperors claimed descent
from him.
